Okay I'm going to post the answer of Q7 the third time!

The probability of winning $8 was 5/216

The question said that the probability of not winning was 5/6. So probability of winning was 1/6.

So 1/6= P($2) + P($8)
1/6=P($2) + 5/216
So P($2) was 31/216

Next expected prize= 2(31/216) + 8(5/216)
= 102/216= 17/36

Expected loss will be= 1-17/36= -(19/36)

That I believe was the answer.
I only managed to do it correctly till it asked the probability of winning $8. Next 2 parts were wrong!

No it was 5/216 as there were only 5 different sequences of getting a score more than 15 (i.e from 16-18)

I don't know but I think the question said that the number after getting a six would count, and that six would also count. That's how I attempted the question.....by that logic getting a 6 on the first dice roll was necessary to make it upto 16.

1. A six is ocounted
2. A number “preceding” a six is counted
3. Any other number is not counted

I got an answer of around $60 in decimals. Does anyone remember??

5,6,6 would not be counted. The first 5 does not have a 6 preceding it. They gave 3 examples to show how the score was calculated. One of them was with 4 being first, and it was counted as 0.

I think i also got same answer in this. And for the second last part which asked for lowest "gross" value (the previous part one being the lowest net value), i think the answer was 77 and some digits after decimal because we have to add the 20 % tax and then $5(i dont remember what this 5 was).
=1.2x60(point something) + 5

I think that the second point was a number before which there is a six will be counted like for 6,5,3 the score will be 6+5+0 (because before 3 there is no 6). Anyways i did not attempt this question 7 because i couldn't understand it.
