At least 6 O levels per session??

I have heard from my friends that it is required for any student of O level to give at least 6 subjects in one session if you want to study in a very good university. Can anyone tell me anything about this??
Although I am going to give 3 sciences, maths, english and add maths in may 2012, I want to confirm the above claim as I have heard that add maths has half credit.

Additonal Mathematics does not have half credit, so you have complete 6 subjects. I have heard the claim too, but I don't think it matters. Many people don't give 6 subjects in a session, yet they are studying in reputable universities. So don't be tensed about it.
