revise unit 6B past papers

revise unit 3B past papers

revise the drawings for reflux , simple distillation ,fractional distillation and that weird Question in the jan 2012 paper (the determining temperature of liquid weirdo ya that one)

revise recrystallization , chromotography

all the ORGANIC tests

ALL the transition metals rxns and colour changings and perhaps take a look at the weird formulas (for me their weird :p )

hmm revise the tests for INORGANIC chemistry the gases the chloride salts ...etc

make ur own notes for your COMMON mistakes , it really helps focus on your weak points :)

Here a quick revision for transition metals, for anyone that's checking in to revise before the exam:

Vanadium:
+2 lavender
+3 green
+4 blue
+5 yellow

Chromium:
+2 blue
+3 green
+4 is yellow in (CrO4)-2 and orange in (Cr2O7)-2

Manganese:
+2 pale pink
+4 brown solid
+6 deep green
+7 purple

Iron:
+2 pale green
+3 yellow (in solution)

Cobalt:
+2 is red when hydrated, and blue when anhydrous
+3 red

Nickel:
+2 green

Zinc:
+2 white

Copper:
+2 white
+3 is blue/green in (CuCl4)-2

Additional Compounds:
  • CuCO3 is Green
  • CuO is black
  • Cu2O is red
  • [Cu(NH3)4]2+ and [Cu(RNH2)4]2+ are both deep blue

Cu 2+ in OH- is blue ppt
Cu 2+ in NH3 is light blue ppt, dissolving to give a deep blue soln

Fe2+ in OH- is Green ppt
Fe3+ in OH- is brown ppt

Cr3+ in OH- green ppt, disolve to give green soln
Cr3+ in NH3 green ppt, dissolves to give purple soln
Nn2+ browm ppt
Ni2+ green ppt, dissolves in NH3 to give a blue soln
Zn2+ white ppt, dissolves to give colorless soln
