The paper wasn't that difficult except for the last two tricky qs.
Also around three of the questions were repeated

Also, the gt might be low as most of the people from my center found it quite difficult

P1 - 75
M1 - 47
P3 - 48
S1 - It can be between 40 and 50.

No chance at A*, huh? :/

If u have 75/75 in P1 then u can easily get an A if u get 40+ in S1. Every year the threshold changes so A does not have to be on 205 each year. It can go below that if papers were hard and higher if papers were easy. A* would be achievable if u get 48+ in S1. I have mentioned these marks if the threshold is slightly on higher side.

I gave AS Math last year and got an A overall (B in P1 and A in M1, I'm guessing it's a high B because the weight age for P1 is more) and my P3 sucked today. Do I have any chance to get an A? I'm annoyed because I was expecting 65+ in P3 which would lead me to an A* but I guess now I can just look forward to an A... Any chance?

Yeah, but if we consider last years threshold it was 231 out of 250 for A*.
If the threshold is similar this year, I can't get A* right? Cause I've already lost 27 marks in P3 alone.
You're saying if I get 48+ in S1 I have a chance at A*. How?

That's because last year's p3 and s1 were easy.

In june 2012 for P3 A was at 56 so overall threshold was around 180-190

IF P3 threshold drops in the lows 50's has happened before everyone is hopeful iA and s1 goes near perfect still a chance for A*

Okay, so this is the past trend of grade thresholds:

May-June 2012... A* was at 209/250
Oct-Nov 2012... A* was at 201/250
May-June 2013... A* was at 212/250
Oct-Nov 2013... A* was at 208/250
May-June 2014... A* was at 213/250
Oct-Nov 2014... A* was at 211/250

May-June 2015... A* was at 231/250
Oct-Nov 2015... A* was at 224/250

According to the trend, the mean marks required for an A* are: 214

In the years 2012 to 2014, the marks for A* never went above 213... in fact they were as low as 201.
However, from 2015 onwards, a sharp rise in marks required for A* can be observed. It had previously NEVER crossed 220, and the maximum was 213... but suddenly it rose to 231, and then it was 224 in Oct-Nov 2015.

Based on this, can we expect a similar grade threshold for May-June 2016, following the rising trends of the year 2015? Will it definitely be above 220?
Or can we expect it to fall again, and be similar to the years 2012-2014 where it was a maximum of 213... but if that happens, it will be against the trend of 2015, which shows that the grade thresholds have significantly risen as compared to previous years.

So what can be the possible grade threshold this year?
I got 75 in P1, M1 went perfect... but in one of the parts, where we had to calculate tension, I calculated the wrong value for uR, because I only equated R to the downward component of weight (mgcos).. but we had to form an equation like R + Tsin20 = mgcos...

I assumed that R would be equal to the vertical component of weight... Basically, I forgot to take into account the component of T that would contribute to the calculation of R... and because of this, my value of R was wrong, and this led to a wrong value of uR, and finally, I got a wrong answer. But the following steps were correct, because I equated Tscos20 to uR and the component of weight down the slope...

Tcos20 = uR + mgsin30

And used this to calculate the value of T. My method of calculation of T was correct, but since my value of R did not take into consideration one of the components of T, it was wrong, and hence my final answer was not 17.5.

This was a 7 mark question... so I don't know how many marks I will get in this. The only mistake I have is not taking into account T in calculating R. The other steps are fine.

As far as P3 is concerned, I left the entire vector question (10 marks), a 2 mark part, and some others...
Though I did come up with an answer for differential equation in the last minute, but it was something involving Logs and stuff. Idk if that is right.
So I am assuming I will lose 30 marks in P3....

P1 = 75
M1 = 47? (I assume I will lose 3 marks in that question about tension)
P3 = 45

So far I have lost 33 marks... that brings me down to 217 out of 250. So if the grade threshold for A* is below 217 (which would be against the rising trends of 2015), then I'll need to get full marks in S1 to get an A*.
