maths p6 help

okay here are a few questions that are troubling me..
may/june 09 paper 06 question 4 part 3...
i understand the 3 factorial and the 4 factorial..but why do they multiply the whole thing by 3...
may/june 2008 paper 06 question 3 part 1
okay this is another similar question..the 3! and 8! are fine..but again why do they multiply it by 9...
in depth explanation required please..

B = Basses
T = Tenors
BBBBTTTT or TTTTBBBB =2
The tenor standing next to basses can't be moved so shuffling remaining 3 tenors = 3!
Shuffling 4 basses = 4!
Total arrangements:
4! x 3! x 2 = 288

May/June 2008 Paper 06 Question 3 Part 1:
J = Jazz
P = Pop
C = Classical
JJJPPPPPPCC or
PJJJPPPPPCC or
PPJJJPPPPCC or
PPPJJJPPPCC or
PPPPJJJPPCC or
PPPPPJJJPCC or
PPPPPPJJJCC or
PPPPPPCJJJC or
PPPPPPCCJJJ.
Arrangements = 9
Shuffling P & C = 8!
And shuffling J = 3!
Total arrangements:
9 x 8! x 3! = 2177280
9 x 8! x 3! = 2180000 (corr. to 3 sig. figures)
