Hello everyone,

Need help...!!!

2 trollies are placed together on a horizontal runway with a compressed spring between them, when they are realeased the 2 kg trolley move to left at 2 m /s. 2nd trolley is 1 kg... How much energy was stored in the spring....?

Pi=0 so speed of 1 kG trolley will be 4m/s by principle of conservation of momentum...now obtain k.e for both trolleys and add them since k.e is scalar quantity so dont worry abt direction..thsi sum will be equal to energy stored in the spring by principle of conservation of momentum....from my memory i guess the anser was 12J
