    Chemistry: Post your doubts here!

Q39) B. Propane = C3H8 and the radical it forms is C3H7* (* being a radical). That means if you break a bond anywhere in options 1, 2 or 3 you should be able to get C3H7. It's possible in 1 and 2, but not 3 so B is right. If you still don't get it, let me know and I'll make a diagram. Q38) A...

    Chemistry: Post your doubts here!

In hydrolysis of esters, you break the bond between the C and the O and the side with the C=O bond is the acid. Ethanoate contains 2 carbon atoms, but there will be only be 1 carbon atom if you break the bond in option C. Option D will have 2 carbon atoms, so it's right.

Lets Solve A's chem MCQ paper together.

Hey... I am also interested. Why don't we do all past papers live from Nov 2002 to Nov 2011 over the course of the next few days? Some people like me don't have a Skype ID so could we use some online chatroom instead? There are many sites where you can create your own chatrooms so maybe we could...

Oh, okay. So if there was no alcohol in one of the options, then the hydrogen bonding with the ketone (option C) because that would be the most polar instead?

I have no clue how the CIE guys marked my papers. Some of them were really good, I got A* in those (probably the equivalent of 85+ in the mock papers) but some papers were kinda bad, like English and Chemistry but I still managed to get an A*/A in those.. so I'd say the CIE marking is a bit more...

    Algorithms!!!

Have you done all of them from 2002-2011 (including the latest paper)? Because if you have, you shouldn't need to do any more because the one that will come in your exam won't be any different from any of those.

I didn't attempt all past papers but I did as many as I could. The way I did it was by solving each question of a paper and then looking at the answer in the marking schemes. But I recommend you solve an ENTIRE paper, then check your marks, see where you stand, etc. and concentrate more on your...

    Mathematics: Post your doubts here!

The underlined phrase means the weight of 94% of the letters have a standard deviation of 12g. So let's say the mean is 20g. 94% of the letters have a weight of something between 18g and 42g, i.e. 12g off from the mean value. As for the second question.. (i) Let the probability of the...
