in his lifetime ijma meant he consulted the sahabas on some matters such as the battle of trench
so there WAS ijma in his lifetime too
yes everyone gave their opinions but u should remember that if holyprophet said yes to something even if it isnot accepatable to companions they ll accept it
in ijma u have to make everyone agree on one descision

but our Islamiyat sir performs extreme marking. Can you please give any comments on the following event which happened with me during the mocks. Accordingly in paper 1 in the second question there was a question that :How are Ijma and Qiyas derived from Islamic Law (jurispendance). The sir gave us a hint saying that we should mention examples of Ijam and Qiyas. For Ijma, I gave the example of Battle of Uhud as well as during the Treaty of HUdaibiyah when the Prophet (S.A.W) asked his companions about whether to fight . FOr the Caliphate Period I gave the example of the election of Au Bakr's election and the compilation of the Quran, as well as the Second azan for the Juma prayer and the Taraweeh prayers. For Qiyas i gave the example of intoxicants, The wuzu example of Aisha (R.A) about nailpolish, about appoinment of guardian over lunatic, sales transactions during Friday Prayers, about the example of man coming to Prophet (S.A.W) about his father had the means to perform Pilgrimage but did not do so... I mentioned more than 4 quotations to support my answer but he only gave me 6/10. Another student gave 1 example of each and he too got 6/10. When I asked the sir he at first told me that no Ijma took place during Prophet (S.A.W)'s lifetime but it took place during Caliphate. When I showed him that i gave examples of Ijma during Caliphate, he read it and then told me that it did not take place during Caliphate Period. When I asked him when did it take place then he said about scholors. I went furious. He then averted the topic by telling me that he would check it again later. Then another question about Why did the Prophet's relations change with the Jews? I gave an entire account of the exile of the the Jewish tribes but gave a separate paragraph for reasons in the end. In the paper, he put a tick on everything but wrote in the end reasons and gave me a 7/10. When I indicated to him where I wrote the reasons, he read it and said that I should have written the reasons along with the other paragraphs. Again he averted the topic by saying that I should go see somebody else's paper. I got an A and A* in both the pre mocks and every class test, and I was really depressed with the marking of this paper. Is it just that he has checked the paper with negative marking or is it that I need improvement. Please do respond.
dnt worry u know u dd rite , the same happnd wth me so no worries ,

he is right ijma can never take place between the lifetime of holyprophet because he himself was present and can give better rulings than any of his companions so any matter ll be discussed with him and companions couldnot setup their own community to decide the issue
they ll only consult prophet
and btw the defination of ijma is the unanimous descision of muslim ummah on religious matter after the demise of prophet(saw)
I would disagree wth u as ijma dd took place durng hs lifetime
as in battle of uhad whn he consulted companions , the majority said to fight outside madinah whereas HOLY PROPLHET [S.A.W] himself wanted to defnd city bt he gave up his opinion in front of ijma

How should i prepare the caliphs? There are no quotes related to caliphs. How are we supposed to get 10/10 in the caliph questions? And the battles of h.umar and all those campaigns... How much knowledge is required? Just the names of the battles or what happened in every single one of them? Draper book is brief abt caliphs i think...
part1: how he was elected[briefly]
part2:wt challenges he faced
part3:names of the battles n shrt descriptions
part4:administration n services , character[briefly]
part5:death
in biographies quotions nt matter a lot bt it would be preferable to write sme , if u need related to any caliph I cn post thm here

well anu when you have written the theme, read the text again and using the theme find out how can you apply it in your life but just use the word Muslims can. To get full marks, write we should, Muslims are required to ... etc.

You are wrong Osama about ur second statement....... how about ghazwah Uhad.....Holy Prophet(S.A.W)'s opinion was to stay in Madina and fight while the ijma of the companions was to go out and meet the enemy face to face and RASOOL ALLAH (S.A.W) agreed " consult them in the affairs other than Islam" (Quran)

I'm new here.
Can someone please tell me the requirements of the islamiyat paper questions.. the 10 mark one and the 4 mark one? I mean, is it possible to get 10/10 and if yes, then how? and same for the 4 mark one?

Should i like practice the past papers by writing all the answers down? or just orally? I already have a good writing speed.. and i can write down the details in time, although i have never practiced past papers... only done the exams in school! So is the practicing past papers thing really necessary? HELP!? :/
Attached is a CIE scoring table. Study the table and you will understand how you can get 10/10 and 4/4

Q: Wrtie an acoount of major challenges that abu bakr faced...do we have to write how he overcomed these challenges too?
yes but focus must be on problems

you all should also have some fun time........so listen to this " Everlast - Stone In My Hand (HD) - YouTube"

thanks Faizan, but in the midterm paper, we got the same Jew question and I did not write the reasons but wrote the descriptive account on the exile of Jews and I got 8/10. This time I wrote more about reasons and I got less I don't know what is up with these LGS sirs.
By the way I study in LGS Johar Town. Well it is nothing to worry about. My friend's sister did O Levels 2 years ago, and in the Islamiat exam, she got 93% in the External. She told him that in the final exams and just recent papers before the Externals, teachers perform even more strict marking to pressurize students to work even harder. and what LGS branch are you from?

and how is your preparation for Externals

Why do some legal scholars reject the use of analogy (qiyas)? [4]

WRITTEN BY HAMZA MAHMOOD A VERY GOOD TEACHER
Analogy (qiyas) is the fourth source of Islamic law that is used when the primary sources are silent about a newly appeared issue. However some scholars reject its use on the following basis.
1. There is detailed description of everything in the Quran so there is no need to follow another source. "...And We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur'an) as an exposition of everything..." (Nahl: 89).2. Resolution of issues through Qiyas takes precedence over Allah and His Messenger which is forbidden in the Quran. "O you who believe! Do not put (yourselves) forward before Allah and His Messenger..." (Hujuraat: 1)
3. Qiyas is conjecture which gives no benefit against the truth. "And most of them follow nothing but conjecture. Certainly, conjecture can be of no avail against the truth..." (Yunus: 36)
4. We are bound to decide among the people with what Allah has revealed and solutions through qiyas are not revealed by Allah. "And so judge (you O Muhammad ) between them by what Allah has revealed and follow not their vain desires..." (Ma'idah: 49).

well scholars reject the use of Qiyas because
first of all mention what is Qiyas
Give an example of Qiyas
Scholars reject it because it involves too much thinking and intellectual effort to find the material similarity (illha) in order to establish a final ruling (hukm)
And finally, because it involves individual effort, it may create confusion and conflicts in some cases between the scholars
thats is

i disagree with the very first point Irfan. It is true that everything is contained within the Quran but some issues are not. For example, the arise of new drugs like cocaine and LSD that were not known during the lifetime of the Prophet (S.A.W). therfore these drugs would become allowed to take and we would turn away from the fold of Islam. therfore Qiyas brings us closer to religion
