its coz she used sec^4(x) = 1 + tan^4(x)
thats the mistake, I didnt saw that, coz i thought she got answer so would be correct xD
sec^4(x) = (1 = tan^2(x))^2 techgeek
now u will get it. :)
yh you can use that or take our sec^2 x common so we get something like :- sec^2 x(sec^2 x - 1) and equate it to (tan^2 x + 1) * (tan^2 x)

BTW just a general question. For sketching an argand diagram will we do it on the answer sheet or on graph paper?

for that you just convert the tan2x and tanx to sin and cos; and then use the integral of :- f '(x) / f(x) = ln |f(x) | +c
