    Oh Solid was Ammonium Carbonate.

    Chemistry Paper 61

We got a badass over here? This isn't some sort of war o.O I'm talking overall mark. 75 PERCENT. This is the grade threshold for last year If you look, the total A* percentage for paper 1/3/6 combination is from 67% to 70% And for paper 6 A*was from 40 to 47 out of 60. So you're most likely...

    Chemistry Paper 61

And 50/60 is 86.666 rounding up to 87. If you look at grade thresholds for last year, chem A* was around 67-75, i don't remember.

    Chemistry Paper 61

Actually as far as I know it's only metal+acid displacement reactions which are always exothermic. The answer is displacement OR precipitation reaction. Exothermic, even if true is an abstract answer not based on physical evidence.

how did the chemistry exam go paper 6???

Actually didn't CIE release a statement saying they're confident that their security measures are tight enough and so can discuss as you wish?

    Chemistry Test of Ions

I love you. XD I'm not the only one who wrote precipitation. "A precipitation reaction is a reaction in which soluble ions in separate solutions are mixed together to form an insoluble compound that settles out of solution as a solid. That insoluble compound is called a precipitate."It should be...

    Chemistry Test of Ions

Back from my exam :) It was awesome. There's only one thing i'm unsure about. There was a question about a reaction between aqueous lead nitrate & aqueous potassium chloride forming insoluble lead chloride and potassium nitrate and it asked what type of reaction that is. Many people I know wrote...

    Chemistry paper 6 help!

The order is C A B The reason is so: All the sulphuric acid solutions added have the same concentration The same volumes of C, A and B were used Only 5.4cm3 of Sulphuric Acid was needed to neutralize 20cm3 of C, meaning C is very dilute (i.e. there weren't alot of moles of sodium hydroxide in...

If you have any question on chem p6 im ready you guys. Don't Worry!!

I've read that question and it's sodium thiosulphate->water->acid or water->sodium thiosulphate -> acid. You can tell, because in the question they add the HCl TO the sodium thiosulphate solution. I have my own question. What on earth is the suck back effect and when does it arise?

    Chemistry Paper 6 (0620)!!

Uhhh I really don't think this post should be here. I think CIE released a statement saying it's okay but I personally havn't taken paper 6 yet (I have it in...5 hours and 20 minutes). While I'm not tempted to cheat, others may be?

    Chemistry Test of Ions

:O I've never heard that before. Or read it. And when I google test for alcohol, my google-fu fails me. Some say add potassium dichromate/turns orange to green

    Chemistry Test of Ions

Also isn't there the test for alcohol/carboxylic acid? I'm not sure - correct me if i'm wrong wooowooowoo - but if you have alcohol you add carboxylic acid and thin white layer of ester forms?

    Chemistry Test of Ions

Just thought I'd add. Solubility ;) Identification of gasses as well. EDIT: Removed graphing, it's already there.

    Chemistry Test of Ions

Hmm concentration of an acid The best method would be to titrate it against an alkali of known concentration Put 25cm3 of the acid into a beaker, and add some phenolpthalein. Add the alkali with a burette drop by drop until the end point is reached We'll then know the volume of alkali needed to...

    Chemistry Test of Ions

Alright Let A and B be two solutions of HCl Let's say they react with 20cm3 of potassium hydroxide If we need 20cm3 of A to react with 20cm3 of KOH, and 40cm3 of B to react with 20cm3, that means there is the same number of moles of HCL in 20cm3 of A as there is in 40 cm3 of B. no. of moles =...
