e^x = 1 + 6e^−x
Using u = e^x
The equation becomes
u = 1 + 6/u
u^2 = u + 6
u^2 - u - 6 = 0
(u+2)(u-3) = 0
u = -2 or u = 3
e^x = -2
This cannot be solved as ln or lg of a negative number is undefined!
The only solution is
e^x = 3
x = ln3 / lne
x = ln3
x = 1.10
We take lne^x
but according to power rule, the power becomes coefficient
so lne^x = xlne
and lne = 1
so
xlne = x
